From the kitchen of Linda Kilbride - Maricopa, Arizona
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup molasses
1/3 cup hot coffee
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
Cream shortening and sugar. Blend in eggs, molasses and coffee. Add remaining ingredients and blend well. Pour into a greased and floured 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees F. Frost while warm.
Frosting
1/4 cup butter, creamed
2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons coffee
Mix until smooth.
