2 1/4 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a loaf pan.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir in sugar and pecans.

Combine egg, buttermilk and butter. Add dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Pour into prepared loaf pan. Bake for 45 minutes, until done. Cool slightly before removing from pan.
