6 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cusp lard (not shortening)
3/4 to 1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
3 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon anise flavoring
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup or less water or wine
Mix all ingredients. Roll into 2-inch diameter balls. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees F.
While cookies are still hot, dip lightly in a mixture of 2 tablespoons cinnamon to 1 cup sugar.
